CREATING ATTENTION GRABBING DATING HEADLINES

Deciding on your attention grabbing online dating headline is critical if you want to get your profile read so we've put together some hints and tips to help you.

Before you start writing your online dating headline take a look at your chosen online dating site(s) and see what other dating profiles say and check out the format.

If you are a man, look at other men’s ad’s that will be competing with yours for attention. Women should do the same.  Take a look at headlines that grab your attention and see what it is that has attracted your eye.

Check out the format and length of the headlines (or Taglines as some sites call them) and see what works. Remember that some sites show your headline next to your picture and that might mean that only the first few words are displayed - be careful what you write if this is the case.

Now all you need to do is think of something unique that sums you up! Here are some tips to help you to create yours and remember to take a look at our e-book for many more hints, tips and working examples.

Be positive
If you can make your reader smile then you are much more likely to get them to read on. Even if you can't raise a smile stay away from negative comments which will simply put people off reading more.

Keep it honest
Don't set yourself up for a fall at this early stage by saying something that is blatantly untrue - getting people to think you are something you are not will fail to get you successful dates.

Leave the clichés to someone else
Just doing your research will show you how many people write things like ‘Looking for Mr Right’ or  ‘I might be the one you’re looking for’ or even ‘I don’t know what to write’!  Think about what an overused headline is going to tell someone about you except maybe that you have limited imagination?

Instead of an actual quote why not try using a misquote?
Use your favourite line from a ilm or a song but with your own personal twist. But don’t forget to acknowledge that is what you are doing or people might just think you are stupid!

Search the web for examples of what to use and what not to!
There are plenty of sites which list headlines. If you like something then there’s no harm in copying an idea as long as it’s relevant to you! It will also help you identify if a headline you are thinking of is overused.

Think of one line to describe your ideal date
Then try it as a headline – it just might work!
